Anasazi State Park and Museum
This ancient Indian village in the heart of Utah's canyon country was one of the largest Anasazi communities west of the Colorado River. The site is believed to have been occupied from A.D. 1050 to 1200. The village remains largely unexcavated, but many have been uncovered and are on display in the newly remodeled museum. Anasazi State Park is in the picturesque ranching town of Boulder on State Route 12. Individual picnic areas are available. For information call: (435)335-7308

Golden Spike National Historic Site
The original Golden Spike Ceremony commemorating the completion of the America's first transcontinental railroad occurred here on May 10, 1869. The event is re-enacted every year on the same date. The annual Railroader's Festival is held the second Saturday in August, and the Winter Steam Demonstration and Film Festival are the last weekend in December. Working replicas of the 1869 steam locomotives Jupiter and 119 are in operation from May-October. For information call: (435)471-2209

Territorial Statehouse State Park
Utah's oldest existing governmental building is the Territorial Statehouse in Fillmore. In anticipation of Utah's statehood, Bringham Young directed construction of the building as the territorial capitol. Only the south wing was ever completed. The existing portion was finished in time for the December 1855 meeting of the territorial legislature, which was the only full session held in the old statehouse. In December 1858 the seat of government was returned to Salt Lake City. The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers initiated the restoration of Territorial Statehouse and with state funding opened it as a museum in 1930. The old capitol building became Utah's first state park in 1957 and today houses a pioneer collection from the time period of the Utah Territory, 1850 to 1896. This Is The Place State Park
Take a walk into the past at This Is The Place State Park. Old Deseret is a living historic village that recreates a typical community between 1847 and 1869. See the sights of daily pioneer life and visit adobe houses, shops, schools, churches and sites of cultural activities. Guides, dressed in period dress, conduct daily activities and share stories of pioneer lifestyles. The village is open daily from April 1 through the first weekend in October. This Is The Place Monument, located south of Old Deseret Village, was erected in 1947. It commemorates the 100th anniversary of the arrival of Mormon pioneers to the Salt Lake Valley. Early Spanish explorers, mountain men and American Indians also are featured. A video presentation, exhibits and a museum store are available at the visitor center. The monument and visitor center are open year-round. This Is The Place State Park is Utah's most renowned historic park. It is on the east bench of Salt Lake City at the mouth of Emigration Canyon. Lagoon
