Algonac State Park
The St. Clair River parallels Algonac State Park, providing boat launching, shore fishing and a close view of passing freighters. Self-interpretive trails meander through unique oak and prairie savannahs. The park is also newly handicapped accessible. Take I-94 east to exit 243 and drive 20 miles east to the park. Dodge #4 State Park
A white sandy beach and a one-mile shoreline on Cass Lake makes Dodge #4 State Park an excellent location for summer and winter water activities. Take M-59 west from Pontiac to Cass Lake Road, and go south to Cass-Elizabeth Road, turn west on Cass-Elizabeth Road then south on Parkway Drive into the park. No camping. Maybury State Park
Maybury State Park can be explored on foot, bicycle, horseback or cross-country skis. Maybury's "working farm" is open all year for visitors to explore life on an early 1900s family farm. Demonstrations are scheduled throughout the year, such as sheep shearing, honey extracting and maple syruping. Call the park for details on special events. Straits State Park
Straits State Park is near the boat lines serving Mackinac Island, one of the most popular tourist attractions in the area. The park has an observation platform and a number of campsites that offer a stunning view of the Mackinac Bridge and the Straits of Mackinac. Take I-75 to US-2 and exit at Church Street. Go south on Church Street for a quarter mile. Camping facilities open April 15 to November 15; modern toilets only from May 1 to October 15. For information call: (906)643-8620

Tahquamenon Falls State Park
The Upper Falls is one of the largest waterfalls east of the Mississippi, with a drop of 50 feet and a width of 200 feet. The Lower Falls is a series of smaller waterfalls cascading around an island. The park's 40,000 acres also feature one of Michigan's largest old-growth forest stands. Take M-123 25 miles north of Newberry or 12 miles west of Paradise. Brimley State Park
Brimley State Park features a 270-site modern campground with large, grassy campsites, as well as a mini-cabin and a beautiful swimming beach on Lake Superior's Whitefish Bay. A scenic view of the Canadian highlands can be seen north of the park. Take 6 Mile Road one mile east of Brimley. Cheboygan State Park
Cheboygan State Park is located on the Straits of Mackinac, boasting scenic Lake Huron beach front and views of historic lighthouse ruins. Three rustic cabins are available on the coastline along Lighthouse Point and are close to a wooded hiking and cross-country ski trail system. Take US-23 south of Cheboygan four miles. P. H. Hoeft State Park
P.H. Hoeft State Park is located along the shores of Lake Huron, offering an excellent swimming area, scenic hiking along the one-mile beach, and a close view of Great Lakes freighters. A spacious picnic shelter with split-stone fireplace accommodates 100 people and affords a lakefront view. Take US-23 five miles northwest of Rogers City. Wilderness State Park
Wilderness State Park is a nature lover's paradise, offering 26 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline, 16 miles of hiking trails and nine rustic cabins, some of which are located on the Lake Michigan shoreline. Twelve miles of cross-country ski trails provide a winter wilderness experience. Take Wilderness Park Drive 11 miles west of Mackinaw City. Craig Lake State Park
Located in the heart of moose country, Craig Lake State Park is ideal for backcountry camping, canoeing and wildlife viewing. Take US-41/M-28 six miles west of Champion and turn north onto Keewaydin Lake Road. Go 12 miles, taking the left fork after five miles. The park is totally undeveloped except for its trail network and two cabins, which are open from May 15 to October 15. For information call:(906)339-4461

Baraga State Park
Baraga State Park is situated on the Keweenaw Bay (Lake Superior) with easy access to the water. The park is centrally located to the many attractions in the western Upper Peninsula. The bay offers anglers good action on salmon, steelhead, lake and brown trout. Take US-41 south of Baraga less than a mile. W. J. Hayes State Park
W.J. Hayes State Park, in the heart of the Irish Hills, is bordered by a group of inland lakes frequented by anglers and boaters. Aloha State Park
Aloha State Park is located on beautiful Mullett Lake. Known as the heart of the Inland Waterway, Mullett Lake is part of a 40-mile water route from Lake Huron to Lake Michigan. It is best known for the 193 lb. sturgeon taken there in 1974. Summer anglers seek northern pike, yellow perch, smallmouth bass, walleye, and lake trout. Burt Lake State Park
Burt Lake offers sandy beaches, campsites under towering oak trees and excellent boating and fishing opportunities along the Inland Waterway from Lake Huron to Lake Michigan. Onaway State Park
Onaway State Park is on Black Lake and is known for its variety of game fish. In addition to boating and fishing opportunities, the park features a three-mile nature trail and campsites among virgin white pines. Onaway is home of the annual Black Lake Sturgeon Shivaree, a festival in February featuring ice fishing, snowmobile racing and other winter activities. Take M-211 six miles north of Onaway.
